If you are driving to North Yorkshire from London, take the M1 towards Leeds and then follow signs to Harrogate or York. From Manchester, take the M62 and then the A1(M) towards Leeds, exiting at junctions for York or Thirsk. For those coming from the south, the M1, A1 or M6 are all options.
If you prefer to take a train, there are several options from major cities. From London, Kings Cross station has direct trains to York, which takes around 1.5 hours. There are also trains to Harrogate from London Kings Cross or Leeds station. From Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle there are direct trains to York and other stations in North Yorkshire. The East Coast Main Line also serves many of these destinations.
If you are in the nearby city of Leeds, you can take a direct train to Harrogate or York, both of which take less than an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus which runs between Leeds and York, with stops in other towns along the way.
The closest airport to North Yorkshire town is Leeds Bradford Airport, which is approximately 18 miles away. The most direct route from the airport to the town is via the A658, which will take approximately 30 minutes by car.
