If you have 7 days to spend in Wick, here are some suggestions of things to do:
- Visit the historic Wick Heritage Museum, which showcases the town's rich history. Allow at least 2 hours for this.
- Explore the Pulteney Distillery, known for producing some of the finest whisky in the world. A tour of the distillery takes approximately 1.5 hours.
- Take a stroll around the Old Castle of Wick, which dates back to the 12th century. This can be done in an hour or so.
- Visit the St. Fergus Gallery, which features a wide range of contemporary art exhibitions. Allow around 1-2 hours for this.
- Explore the scenic Wick River and enjoy a picnic in one of the many parks located along its banks. This is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
- Take a day trip to John o' Groats, one of the northernmost points in mainland Britain, which is only a short drive from Wick. Allow a full day for this.
- Lastly, take in the stunning views at Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the British mainland. Allow a half day for this.
As for places to stay, there are plenty of options in and around Wick, including hotels, B&Bs, and self-catering cottages. Some popular options include the Norseman Hotel, the McKays Hotel, and the Nethercliffe Hotel. Be sure to book in advance, especially during peak season.
