If you have 7 days to spend in Grasmere, here are some suggestions to make the most out of your trip:
- Visit the Wordsworth Museum and Dove Cottage, which are of great historical importance and take you back to the times of literary greats. Plan to spend at least half a day here.
- Take a stroll or hike around Grasmere Lake, which is picturesque and serene. Estimate at least 2-3 hours depending on how long you wish to spend here.
- Take a trip to Helm Crag, which is a distinctive peak that offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. It takes around 3-4 hours to complete the hike, so plan accordingly.
- Visit St. Oswald's Church, which is the final resting place of William Wordsworth. It won't take more than an hour, but it's worth seeing.
- Take a drive to rambunctious Keswick, which is a short 30-minute drive away. Keswick offers a wide variety of activities including the Keswick Museum, the Puzzling Place, Castlerigg Stone Circle, and numerous outdoor activities like kayaking and rock climbing. Plan to spend a whole day here.
