Visiting Newtown

To drive to Newtown, we recommend the following directions:

1. From Birmingham, take the M54 towards Telford.
2. At Telford, join the A5 and continue towards Shrewsbury.
3. Take the A458 towards Welshpool, then follow signs to Newtown.

To get to Newtown by rail, you can take the train from Birmingham New Street or Shrewsbury. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. From the train station, it is a short walk or taxi ride to the town centre.

If you are travelling from nearby towns or landmarks, you can take the A483 from Llandrindod Wells, the A489 from Welshpool, or the A470 from Machynlleth.

The closest airport to Newtown is Liverpool John Lennon Airport, located approximately 60 miles away.

If you're driving from the airport, you'll want to take the M56 and then switch to the A483 towards Oswestry. From there, take the A489 to Newtown.
