To get to Cockermouth by rail, the nearest station is called Corkickle and it is located about 4 miles away. Once you arrive at Corkickle Station, you can take a taxi or a bus to get to Cockermouth town centre.
Driving to Cockermouth is also an option, and the town can be reached from the east or west via the A66. From the north, the A595 provides access while from the south, the town can be accessed by the A5086. If you are travelling from nearby towns, Keswick is only about a 20-minute drive, while Carlisle is about 30 minutes away.
If you are visiting the Lake District National Park, Cockermouth is a great base to explore the area. Towns such as Keswick, Windermere and Ambleside can be reached within an hour's drive. Other recommended places to visit nearby include Bassenthwaite Lake, Whinlatter Forest Park and the Castlerigg Stone Circle.
