If you have 6 hours or a half day to spend in Cheddar, here are some suggestions:
- Visit Cheddar Gorge: This is a must-see attraction and can take anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on how much hiking and exploring you want to do.
- Try some Cheddar Cheese: You can't visit Cheddar without trying some of the local cheese. You can visit the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company or the Cheddar Deli for a tasting. This shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to an hour.
- See the Cheddar Man Exhibit: The Cheddar Man exhibit is located in the Cheddar Gorge and can take about an hour to go through.
- Explore the village: The village of Cheddar is small but picturesque. Take a stroll down the high street and visit some of the local shops and cafes. This should take about an hour.
- Take a walk in the Mendip Hills: The Mendip Hills are located just outside of Cheddar and offer stunning views of the countryside. A short walk can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Overall, you could easily spend a half day in Cheddar exploring the gorge, trying some cheese, and enjoying the village. If you have more time, taking a walk in the Mendip Hills is definitely worth it.
