What Should I Do With Two Days In Wakefield?
If you have 2 days to spend in Wakefield, there are plenty of things to keep you entertained.
Day 1:
- Start your day at the Wakefield Cathedral, which dates back to the 14th century. It's a stunning building both inside and out. Allow about an hour for the visit.
- Next, head to the Hepworth Wakefield, a renowned art gallery showcasing modern and contemporary art. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.
- Afterwards, take a stroll around the beautiful Thornes Park and feed the ducks in the lake. A leisurely walk around the park can take about an hour.
- Finish the day with a visit to the Chantry Chapel of St Mary, one of the oldest buildings in Wakefield. It's a short walk from Thornes Park and will take around 30 minutes to visit.
Day 2:
- To start the day, visit the Pugney's Country Park for a walk around the lake and a chance to try some water sports. You can spend anywhere between an hour and half a day here.
- Next, head to the National Coal Mining Museum, which offers an insight into the history of mining, with opportunities to go underground and see what life was like for miners. Allow at least 2 hours for the visit.
- In the afternoon, visit Nostell Priory and Parkland, an 18th-century house with beautifully landscaped gardens and parkland. A visit here should take around 2 hours.
