What Should I Do With Two Days In Highland?

If you have two days to spend in Highland, there are several things you can do:

Day 1:

  • Visit Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle: Loch Ness is about a 30-minute drive from Inverness and Urquhart Castle is a 5-minute drive from there. You can take a boat tour of the lake and enjoy the scenery. Visiting the castle will take about 1-2 hours.

  • Take a drive on the North Coast 500: This is a scenic driving route that takes you through some of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes. Depending on where you want to stop, it can take an entire day.
  • Explore Culloden Battlefield: Located near Inverness, this is a historic site where the famous battle took place in 1746. It's a great place to learn about Scottish history and it can take about 1-2 hours.

As for places to stay, Inverness has several great options including the Mercure Inverness Hotel and the Glen Mhor Hotel. If you want to be closer to the North Coast 500, there are plenty of B&Bs and guesthouses along the route.
