If you have two days to spend in Dunster, there are plenty of things to do and see! Here are some suggestions:
Day 1:
- Visit Dunster Castle and Gardens - this will take around 2-3 hours to explore the castle and gardens.
- Take a stroll through the village of Dunster and explore the quaint streets and buildings. This will take around 1-2 hours.
- Stop by the Yarn Market - a historic octagonal building in the centre of the village. This will only take around 15-20 minutes to visit but is worth seeing.
- Head to the Dunster Beach - a beautiful sandy beach just a few miles from the village. Spend the afternoon lounging in the sun and swimming in the sea. This could take a few hours depending on how much time you want to spend there.
Day 2:
- Visit the Dunster Museum and Doll Collection - this museum is housed in a building that dates back to the 1400s and has a large collection of dolls and other historic artefacts. This will take around 1-2 hours.
- Take a walk through Dunster Forest - this is a peaceful and scenic area with plenty of trails to explore. You can spend as much or as little time here as you like.
- See the Tallest Tree in England at Nutcombe Bottom - this is a short drive from Dunster and is an impressive sight to behold. This will only take around 20-30 minutes to see.
As for places to stay, there are plenty of options in and around Dunster. The Luttrell Arms Hotel is a historic coaching inn located in the heart of the village, while the Dunster Castle Hotel is situated right by the castle. The Exmoor House Bed & Breakfast is a cosy and welcoming option, and there are also several self-catering cottages available to rent.
