If you have seven days to spend in Windsor and Maidenhead, here are some suggestions on what to do:
- Visit Windsor Castle - this is a must-see attraction and can take up a whole day. Be sure to explore the state apartments, St. George's Chapel, and the changing of the guard.
- Take a walk along the Thames Path - this is a beautiful trail that goes past the river and offers stunning views of the countryside. You can take your time and enjoy the scenery.
- Go on a boat tour - it's a unique way to see Windsor and Maidenhead from the river and get to know the town's history and culture. It typically takes one or two hours.
- Explore the shops and restaurants on Windsor's high street - there are many high-end stores and eateries that are worth checking out. You can easily spend half a day here.
- Visit the Windsor Farm Shop - this is a local market that sells fresh produce and other goods. You can buy gifts and souvenirs here, and it's also a great place to have a picnic. Takes a few hours to shop around and eat.
- Explore Dorney Court - this is a historical site that has been incredibly well-preserved. You can tour the estate and learn about its history, take walks in the garden and courtyard, and shop for local crafts. Takes a full afternoon.
For places to stay, the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel and Spa is a popular choice. It's located in the heart of Windsor and has luxurious rooms and spa facilities. Oakley Court is another great accommodation option - it's a castle-like building with beautiful grounds and a rich history. However, these places can be quite expensive, so another option is the Travelodge in Maidenhead.
