What Should I Do For One Week In Washington?

If you have a week to spend in Washington, there are various things to see and do. Some suggestions are:

  • Washington Old Hall - This old manor house has connections to George Washington's family and is worth visiting to learn about the history of the area. Allow 1-2 hours for the visit.
  • Galleries Shopping Centre - This shopping center has plenty of high-street stores and restaurants. Depending on your shopping preferences, you can spend a few hours or most of the day here.
  • Oxclose Village and Beamish Wild - These two outdoor recreation areas offer facilities for zip-lining, rock climbing, and other adventure sports. For either of these places, set aside half a day or more.
  • WWT Washington Wetland Centre - This nature reserve has various sorts of birds that come and go depending on the season. Allow for 2-3 hours to explore.
  • A visit to Newcastle upon Tyne - Being only a short drive away, Newcastle offers plenty of sights and activities. Consider visiting the landmark, Castle Keep, admiring some of the architectural feats like the Tyne Bridge or Grainger Town, or enjoying some of the art exhibitions at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
