What Should I Do For One Week In Oxfordshire?

If you have 7 days to spend in Oxfordshire, here are some suggestions on what to do:

Day 1

Start with exploring the city of Oxford - visit the historic colleges (such as Christ Church and Magdalen), climb the Radcliffe Camera for stunning views of the city, and take a punting tour on the river Thames. This should take up most of the day.

Day 2

Visit some of the charming villages around Oxfordshire, such as Woodstock (which is home to the stunning Blenheim Palace), Burford, and Chipping Norton. Take a leisurely stroll around each village and explore their unique shops. This should take up a full day.

Day 3

Check out the Cotswold Wildlife Park, which is a great place to take the kids. It has a wide variety of animals, including giraffes, lions, and rhinos, as well as a beautiful garden. This should take up half a day. In the afternoon, you can cycle or walk through the Cotswolds, which has beautiful rolling hills and scenery.

Day 4

Visit some of the local museums, such as the Ashmolean Museum and the Pitt Rivers Museum. They have a wide variety of exhibits, ranging from art to science to archaeology. This should take up half a day. In the afternoon, you can take a walk through Port Meadow, which is one of the largest areas of common land in the UK.

Day 5

Visit the Waddesdon Manor, which is a beautiful country house built in the style of a French chateau. It has a stunning garden and beautiful furniture and art collections. This should take up most of the day.

Day 6

Go on a hot air balloon ride for a unique view of the countryside. You can either do this in Oxford itself or in one of the surrounding towns. This should take up half a day. In the afternoon, you can visit the Bicester Village shopping outlet, which has a wide variety of designer shops.

Day 7

Take a day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, which is the birthplace of Shakespeare. You can visit his house and learn more about his life and works. This should take up most of the day.

As for places to stay, there are many options such as traditional B&Bs, chain hotels, and luxury hotels. Some recommendations include The Old Bank Hotel in Oxford, The Lamb Inn in Burford, and The Manor Country House Hotel in Weston-on-the-Green. It's best to book in advance, especially during the busy summer months.
