What Should I Do For One Week In Highland?

If you have 7 days to spend in Highland, there are plenty of things to explore and enjoy:

  • Isle of Skye: Explore the picturesque island with its stunning scenery and hiking trails. Spend at least 2-3 days here.
  • Cairngorms National Park: Go skiing or snowboarding in the winter or hiking and biking in the summer. Plan for a day or two.
  • Loch Ness: Visit the famous loch and go monster hunting or take a boat trip. A day trip should suffice.
  • Glenfinnan Viaduct: Admire the architectural feat featured in the Harry Potter movies, and enjoy the surrounding landscape. A few hours are enough
  • Eilean Donan Castle: A classic Scottish castle, easily accessible and worth 1-2 hours of your time.

Some suggestions for where to stay include:

  • Inverness: A great base to explore the north, with plenty of accommodation options, restaurants, and pubs.
  • Portree: A charming town in the Isle of Skye with accommodations range from budget-friendly to luxury.
  • Aviemore: A popular hub to explore the Cairngorms, with a variety of accommodations and a lively atmosphere.
  • Fort William: A town located in the western part of the highlands, ideal for exploring Glenfinnan Viaduct and nearby hikes.
