What Should I Do For One Week In Cumbria?

If you have a week to spend in Cumbria, there are plenty of things to see and do. Here are some suggestions:

  • Visit the Lake District National Park - this will take several days to fully explore. You can go hiking, take boat tours, and admire the stunning scenery. Consider staying in a bed and breakfast or cottage in one of the park's small towns or villages.
  • Explore the historic city of Carlisle - there are plenty of attractions in this city, including Carlisle Castle, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, and Carlisle Cathedral. You could easily spend a day or two here.
  • Walk along Hadrian's Wall - this ancient wall is an important piece of history and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Allocate at least half a day for this activity.
  • Visit the town of Kendal - known as the "Gateway to the Lakes," this town has plenty of shops, eateries, and attractions like Kendal Castle and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery. Spend a day wandering around here.
  • Take a scenic drive through the countryside - Cumbria has some of the most beautiful roads in England, so why not hire a car and explore? A trip through the Yorkshire Dales could take several hours.
