What Should I Do For One Week In Birkenhead?

If you have 7 days to spend in Birkenhead, there are plenty of things to do to explore this bustling town.

Here are some suggestions for places to visit and an idea of how long to spend at each one:

  • Birkenhead Park: A beautiful Victorian park that inspired Central Park in New York. Spend a few hours here wandering the gardens and lakes.
  • Williamson Art Gallery and Museum: This is a hidden gem that is well worth a visit. Spend 2-3 hours exploring the art collections and exhibitions.
  • Port Sunlight Village: A picturesque village built by Lord Leverhulme for his soap factory workers. Spend the whole day exploring the village, visiting the Lady Lever Art Gallery and taking a stroll along the river.
  • Birkenhead Priory: The oldest standing building in Merseyside, with Viking origins. Spend an hour or two exploring the priory and the nearby tunnels.
  • Museum of Liverpool: A fabulous museum that tells the story of Liverpool and its people. Spend at least half a day exploring the exhibitions.
  • Anfield Stadium: If you're a football fan, a tour of Anfield is a must. Spend a few hours exploring the stadium and taking in the atmosphere.
  • Albert Dock: A UNESCO World Heritage Site with plenty of restaurants, shops and museums. Spend an afternoon or evening exploring the docks and taking a boat tour.

As for places to stay, there are plenty of hotels and guesthouses in Birkenhead and Liverpool. You could stay in Liverpool city centre and travel to Birkenhead for day trips, or stay in Birkenhead itself for a more relaxed break.
