So you've got 24 hours in Sheffield! That's a great amount of time to visit - let's see what our expert guides would recommend. Last updated 15th December 2023.

What Should I Do With 24 Hours In Sheffield?

Sheffield is a vibrant and exciting city with plenty to see and do. If you have 24 hours to spend here, here are some suggestions:

  • Visit the Winter Garden - This indoor garden is one of the largest in Europe and houses over 2,500 plants from around the world. You can easily spend an hour walking around and taking in the beautiful sights and smells.
  • Check out the street art - Sheffield has a thriving street art scene, with many murals and graffiti pieces around the city. Take a walking tour or explore on your own, but be sure to bring a camera. This could take up to two hours or more if you really take your time and explore.
  • Explore the Peak District - If you have a car, take a short drive out of the city and into the beautiful Peak District National Park. There are plenty of hiking trails, scenic drives, and quaint villages to visit. Plan for a half-day trip at minimum.
  • Visit the Kelham Island Museum - This museum is dedicated to the city's industrial heritage, with a particular focus on steelmaking. You can learn about the history of Sheffield and see some amazing machinery up close. Plan for at least two hours here.
  • Take in a show at the Crucible Theatre - Sheffield is known for its theatre scene, and the Crucible is one of the best venues in the city. Check the schedule and book tickets in advance if possible. Plan for a few hours here depending on the length of the show.

Of course, there's much more to do in Sheffield than just these few suggestions. Take a stroll through the city centre, check out the independent shops and restaurants, or simply relax in one of the many parks. Enjoy your time in this wonderful city!
